Our Impact
Turbo-charging change…
Our impact is built through collaboration. We partner with organisations across the creative industries and local authorities including ScreenSkills, UWE Bristol, Media Cymru, WEMCA, and many more to contribute to research that drives meaningful change. From regional reports to sector wide insight, our work supports projects that contribute towards positive change across the creative landscape.
We are always open to new partnerships and are drawn to projects that ask questions, challenge norms and push the industry forward. If you are working on something that matters, we would love to explore how we can work together.
Our Work
Bristol Digital Cultures Research
Creatively Mapping the West...
Gritty Talent partnered with UWE Bristol’s Digital Cultures Research Centre to evolve
the Go West! report into an interactive map of the Bristol and Bath TV and film sector.
Serving as the bridge between academia and industry, we secured the participation of 100
freelancers to ensure the dataset was both robust and representative of the region's
diverse workforce. By facilitating specialist focus groups, we provided the industry
insights necessary to refine the map’s design and functionality. This collaboration
successfully translated academic research into a practical, user-led resource that
accurately reflects the scale and vibrancy of the South West’s creative economy.
FOCUS Diversity Audit
A First for Scotland...
Gritty Talent partnered with FOCUS to undertake a first-of-its-kind Equality, Diversity
and Inclusion audit across five supported production companies in Scotland. The project
assessed and strengthened talent and inclusion strategies at both cluster and individual
company level, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative data to build a clear, evidence-based
picture of the workforce. Our independent report highlighted trends across leadership,
socioeconomic access, ethnicity, gender, disability and workplace culture, and translated these
into practical, tiered recommendations covering both short-term actions and longer-term structural
change. This work equipped leadership teams with the tools, language and roadmap to embed inclusion
in day-to-day practice, support under-represented talent, and build healthier, more sustainable
working environments across the sector.
ScreenSkills HETV School Roadshow
The Next Generation...
Funded by ScreenSkills’ (High-end TV) HETV Skills Fund and delivered in partnership with
PACT, we launched a pioneering initiative to bridge the gap between Bristol’s local HETV
sector and potential future talent. The HETV Careers Schools Roadshow introduced hundreds
of Key Stage 3 pupils, their teachers and their parents to the exciting world of high-end
TV through hands-on workshops and Q&As with top industry professionals.
We demystified the HETV sector and provided insight into the skills needed and the career
paths available as well as showing students that a world-class career is available right on
their doorstep in Bristol!
To ensure a lasting legacy, we provided an online resource portal featuring career maps and
educational pathways. Following the success of this roadshow, we are proud to continue our
ongoing collaboration with ScreenSkills on further training programmes.
Inclusion Accelerator Wales
Collaboration, Creativity and Community...
With funding from Media Cymru, Channel 4 and BBC Cymru Wales we designed the first of our
Inclusion Accelerator programmes. Over a 12 week period we empowered ten Welsh production
companies to build more inclusive, future ready workplaces. From culture and policy reviews
with bespoke team surveys to equipping leaders with data driven insights and practical next
steps on representation, recruitment and retention. Through masterclasses, consultancy
sessions and under-represented talent introductions, we helped senior teams shape
sustainable EDI missions, build confidence and turn good intentions into realistic delivery
plans. authentic and inclusive on and off screen.
